For those seeking a less adventurous option, this tour provides the same award-winning experience as the Dingle Sea Safari but with the added comfort of a more sheltered vessel.

Other options include a tour to Valentia island off South Kerry or Inis Tearaght – the most western island in Europe featuring a stunning lighthouse. The Puffins are always of great interest to our bird-watching clients; from mid March to end of July and can be viewed in great numbers.

Dingle Peninsula

Blasket Islands

The Blasket Islands form a small archipelago comprising six main islands and numerous smaller ones, situated approximately 5km off the Dingle Peninsula. These islands hold the distinction of being Ireland and Europe’s westernmost point. Although they are no longer inhabited, having been deserted in 1953 due to the challenges of rowing traditional canoes (naomhoga) to the mainland amid years of hardship and emigration, they remain rich in diverse wildlife. Among their inhabitants are puffins, seabirds, whales, dolphins, and notably, one of Ireland’s largest seal colonies, making them a haven for nature enthusiasts.

An Blascaod Mór

An tOileán Tiar

5.2km long and 1km at its widest point, the village on this island lies at its eastern end and faces the mainland. Below the village lies An Trá Bhán (the white strand). Great Blasket is 5km by boat from Dún Chaoin Pier.

Inis na Bró

Cathedral Rocks

This island was inhabited until the middle of the last century. It provided summer grazing for sheep and cattle of the Great Blasket. Caves on the north face were a favoured seal-hunting location.

Inis Mhic Uibhleáin

Inis Mhic Uibhleáin

This island was the home of the Daly family until it was abandoned in 1904. The remains of an early monastic site are also present. In more recent times, this was the summer home of Charles Haughey, former Taoiseach.

Inis Tuaisceart

Inis Tuaisceart

Inhabited in early Christian times, this island has the remains of an oratory known as Brendan’s Oratory. It was inhabited for short periods during the nineteenth century. Potatoes were grown here, and sheep fattened.

Beiginis

Beiginis

The rich grass of this island helped fatten the Islanders’ cattle. This island bears the remains of a herdsman’s dwelling.

Wildlife

Our Sea Safari takes you on an incredible tour of the scenery and wildlife that resides along the coast of the Dingle Peninsula. Dolphins are seen swimming around the peninsula all year round, while we spot whales more frequently in the summertime between June and October. As our ribs venture to the beautiful Great Blasket Islands, you’ll see one of the biggest seal colonies in Ireland! Puffins come to the peninsula between March and July each year, and you’ll be able to see and take pictures of them in their natural habitat as well as a range of other seabirds.
